Meet the Camp Director, Jerry Block

Jerry Block

Jerry Block completed his ninth season as head coach of the men's soccer team at Albion College in 2008. He led the Britons to 44 victories over the past four seasons, including a school-record 14 victories in 2005 and a second-place finish in the ultra-competitive Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in 2006. Block has breathed life into the soccer program, which celebrated placing seven athletes on the 2006 all-MIAA squad.

As a collegiate player at DePauw (Ind.) University, Block finished his four-year career with the second highest point total in Tiger soccer history. DePauw teams compiled a 51-16-5 mark while Block was a member, making NCAA Division III tournament appearances in 1993 and 1994.  After graduating from DePauw in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics, Block coached with development soccer clubs in Massachusetts and Illinois, and also served a season as junior varsity coach at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.  From 1998-2000, Block served as an assistant coach with the Springfield College men’s soccer program.  Considered “The Birthplace of Basketball,” Springfield also is known for its solid soccer program, highlighted by a 15-win season (15-6) and NCAA Division III tournament appearance in 1999.  His coaching responsibilities included overseeing recruiting, as well as scouting and analyzing opponents.

The camp staff will also include other college coaches.  Members of the Albion College Men’s Soccer team will serve as counselors for the camps.  We will maintain a camper to staff ratio of 10:1, making sure your son receives plenty of individual instruction.
